WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener Program
Join the WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener program for an immersive "Savory, Seeds & Spores" On the Road Tour on Thursday, August 20, and leave the driving to us.
Your botanical adventure begins at Garden Delight Herb Farm. Visiting their herb gardens, you will learn practiced cultivation tips from this mom and daughter duo. There will also be time to explore their unique herbal products - topical and edible.
Next, we will travel to the historic Jane Weber Evergreen Arboretum for a guided tour across five and a half beautiful acres, featuring a specialized lesson on the art of seed collecting. The site is also home to the Stanger House. Believed to have been constructed in 1867 on the banks of the Columbia River, the John Stanger House is a rare example of Pioneer Plank construction. The house is historically significant for its close association with the earliest period of settlement in Clark County, and is believed to be the county’s second-oldest standing building.
Our final destination brings us to The Pacific Spore, a fascinating urban warehouse farm where grower Payne Taylor will lead an exclusive tour into the world of indoor mushroom cultivation.
We will break for lunch "on your own" at the Vancouver Station food carts.
Meet at 9:45 AM at the 78th Street Heritage Farm, located at 1919 NE 78th Street, Vancouver, WA 98665. The tour van will return to the Heritage Farm at approximately 4:45 PM. Participants should wear sturdy, comfortable shoes, bring a walking stick if needed, and dress appropriately for the changing weather.
