Happy New Year! It’s tradition! What will your first birds be for 2026?

This is the optional add-on early owl-walk for today’s walk: we will meet at 6:15am at the WDFW parking lot across from the Frenchman’s Bar Park entrance. This will give us the opportunity to walk along the paved trail to look for American Barn Owl, Great Horned Owl, and Short-eared Owl (or any other owl surprises!). We will be back to the vehicles in time to enter the park and meet for the regular walk. This owl walk portion will be canceled in the event of strong winds, rain, or other inclement weather (poor owling conditions). Flashlight recommended. Register to be notified of any changes. Status will also be updated on the website and the VAS GroupMe text group.

Dress for the weather! Remember the winds off the river can be quite bitter. Waterproof boots are recommended for areas where we may walk through wet grass.

This walk will be weather-dependent! Please contact Cindy if you plan to join the walk and watch your email or check the website if extreme weather is expected on that day. Meet at the south-central parking lot, near the south restrooms and beach volleyball courts.

(Frenchman’s Bar Regional Park does require a parking fee or county park parking pass).
