Hike 1.8 miles climbing about 1,000 feet to our work. At an elevation of just over 4,000 feet we will be 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Portland. Round trip is 3.6 miles.
Located near Carson, Washington, we will work north of FR68, just below Big Huckleberry Mountain on the Pacific Crest Trail.
Dig More Drains - Help prepare the trail for fall deluges. There is also a lot of huckleberries that are growing into the trail which need to be trimmed back. Have lunch under shady trees at the edge of a mountain meadow. Nearby are great views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams.
Tools, gloves, and hard hats will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you have them. Long sleeves, long pants, and over-the-ankle boots are required. Please also bring rain gear, water, lunch, and a daypack large enough for your personal gear plus a couple of small tools.
Come work in a nice old second growth forest that is poison-oak free.
I'll have chocolate chip cookies and cold soft-drinks afterwards to celebrate National Homemade Cookies Day.
