Project Leader Info: Steven Jones sttjones@gmail.com

Maximum Number of Volunteers: 7

Hiking Miles per Day: 6

Registration Required HERE

Hike 3 miles climbing about 900 feet then clean the trail drains and cut some vine maple on the way back. At an elevation of just over 4,000 feet we will be 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Portland. Hiking round trip is 6 miles.
Located near Carson, Washington, we will work north of FR68, just below Big Huckleberry Mountain on the Pacific Crest Trail.

There are a couple patches of vine maples that are growing into the trail which need to be trimmed back. Have lunch under shady trees along the trail.

Tools, gloves, and hard hats will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you have them. Long pants, shirts with sleeves, and sturdy shoes are required. Over-the-ankle boots are required to handle tread tools. Please also bring sun screen, rain gear, an extra shirt, at least 2 liters (1/2 gallon) of water, lunch, and a daypack large enough for your personal gear plus a couple of small tools.

Come work in a nice old second growth forest that is poison-oak free.
Snacks and cold soft-drinks available afterwards.

Physical Requirements: Moderate. This project is suitable for individuals in good physical condition who participate in a semi-exercise routine. Most people who are physically active can participate at this level. The components of this project may include one or more of the following: hiking 1-5 total miles each day, elevation change of 1000 ft or less over the course of the hike, and moderately physical work activities.
