Vancouver Audubon Society lead Cindy McCormick will lead a walk on the dike trail to look for migrating shorebirds, Sandhill Cranes, and other wetland and open country species in the area. If lake levels allow, we will return and cross over to view the north end of Vancouver Lake from the North Bridge Trail.
Expect a walk of about 2 miles on gravel and grass across mostly flat but uneven terrain. Some minor obstructions such as roots, debris, or potholes may be present.
There are no restroom facilities at this site.
Dress for the weather. Sunscreen and a hat may be a good idea if the warm, sunny weather continues. Waterproof boots are recommended.
Bird Outings are meant to be a casual, local morning of birding. They are a great time to enjoy birds with others and find new areas to visit. You can work on bird identification by sight and sound. It’s also an opportunity to practice your eBird app with help when needed. These outings are easy to join or leave at any time during the morning. You don’t have to commit to the entire walk if you have limited energy, ability, or time. All are welcome!
