Join us at a beach cleanup this weekend!

Surfrider chapters all over Oregon will be hosting cleanups this Sunday to clean up after the dirtiest beach day of the year. Every year after the holiday, revelers leave behind trash and fireworks on our beaches and green spaces. Heavy metals seep into our water, plastic shards are eaten by wildlife, and sharp nails are a risk to barefoot dogs and humans alike. All ages are welcome, and gear is provided!

👉 Find a cleanup near you or take a road trip to the beach:

Celebrate the holiday responsibly by following these tips!

Before you go:
✅ Bring reusable water bottles, cups, food containers, and utensils
✅ Skip the balloons — they end up in the ocean
✅ Bring two bags — one for trash and one for recyclables

At the beach:
🎆 Set up away from dunes and bird nesting areas:
🎆 Anchor your tent and umbrella so they don't blow away
🎆 Pick up plastic pieces (bottle caps, straw wrappers, bits of broken plastic)

When you leave:
🌊 Do a sweep of your area before you pack up
🌊 Take everything you brought. Everything.
🌊 Dispose of trash and recycling properly (don't leave bags on the beach)
